We are delighted to announce that Acoustic Directions and PKA Acoustic Consulting have been awarded the winners of the 2021 Hugh Vivian Taylor Award for their work on The Passive Noise Guide for the City of Sydney. This guide was developed to explore how natural ventilation in apartment buildings could be achieved, while also providing a high degree of noise attenuation.
Presented by the Association of Australasian Acoustical Consultants (AAAC), the award recognises efforts in providing innovation, promoting consulting, and advancing the field of acoustics.
Both Glenn Leembruggen and Joel Parry-Jones (the Principals of Acoustic Directions and PKA respectively) where honoured to accept the award.
Congratulations to the whole team who worked collaboratively to prepare this guide. A notable mention to Glenn Leembruggen and Joel Parry-Jones as without their insight this piece of detailed work would not have been possible. Also to the team who modelled and simulated numerous apartment building layouts, building components, and scenarios, Daniel Firth, Osborn Fong and Camille Hanrahan-Tan.
