Our Project:
Brindabella Christian College, ACT
Project Overview
Brindabella Christian College embarked on a project to build a new Junior School building that would provide a fun and inspirational space for learning. The junior school spaces include 15 classrooms, staff areas, large communal spaces and wet learning areas.
Our Solution
Closely collaborating with SQC Architecture, Acoustic Directions provided acoustic designs for the plethora of spaces in the new building. Having acoustically designed rooms facilitates clear communication, which enables staff to deliver teaching content clearly and creates a comfortable, non-distracting environment where the students can learn.
Acoustic Directions also designed the sound system for the open foyer of the Junior School. Our use of Martin Audio O-Line speaker arrays enabled a natural sound to be delivered evenly to the intended ground area while reducing sound spillage to the ceiling. This highly-optimised sound system, which has been integrated and installed by Sound Advice, is versatile to deliver pristine sound from pre-recorded multimedia and the live microphone on the podium.
Acoustic Directions has also designed and commissioned the Ampetronic hearing loop system (AFILS) which was installed on the ground floor of the main foyer. Our commissioning process, which includes optimising the loop gain and frequency response of the system, ensures that people using assisted listening devices can also enjoy high quality audio.s
The Outcome
Our successful collaboration with Brindabella Christian School, Built, SQC Architecture and Donald Cant Watt resulted in the project being awarded the Master Builders ACT – Building Excellence Award 2019 for the Junior School Building.
